Aurora, IL - Countryside Care Centre would like to introduce our Fall Prevention Program. As we get older, there are many factors that could lead to falls, which in many cases lead to serious injuries. Our staff at Countryside is trained to observe and determine which residents may be at risk of falling, or may have fallen recently. These residents would then undergo screenings with our highly skilled occupational and physical therapists who would then formulate a program based on their individual needs. Though the therapies may differ from person to person, the goals remain the same:
-
Improve dynamic balance in standing
-
Improve the quality/distance of ambulation
-
Increase the safety of the resident during the transitions and transfers
-
Increase the level of orientation of the resident
-
Decrease the level of confusion in the resident
-
Prevent further falls
-
Increase strength for better functional mobility and endurance
-
Increase ankle ROM for better gait
The programs are administered in our Balance Room, a space dedicated to fall prevention and balance improvement. The unit is outfitted with the latest equipment, various types and textures of walking surfaces to practice on, as well as a Wii Fit Board.
